Mid-Level Software Engineer

The position will involve creating software for world class, next generation disruptive systems and technologies. The selected candidate will work with the Disruptive Computing & Networks (DC&N) product team focused on the concept, requirements, architecture, design and development of a future system. We are looking for people who like to try new things and aren’t afraid of a challenge!

As part of Boeing's software capability, our engineers use their expertise to dream up next-generation software capabilities for amazing aerospace, satellite, and autonomous platforms. You will collaborate with other world-class scientists, researchers, and engineers innovating on a range of technologies including: Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI/ML), Advanced Training & Simulation, Production Analytics, Autonomy, Electro-Optical/Infrared Sensing, Cybersecurity, Disruptive Computing & Networks, and High-Fidelity Digital Twin & Virtualization, and much more.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  2. Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.
  3. Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  4. Performs software project management and software supplier management functions.
  5. Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics. Executes and documents software research and development projects.
  6. Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.
  7. Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
  8. Works under general direction.

Experience and Qualifications:

To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:

Required Education and Years of Experience:

  1. Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  2. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  3. 3+ years of experience designing and developing software for a real time or non-real-time system.
  4. Experience with the full software development lifecycles.
  5. Experience with requirements analysis.
  6. Experience in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, JavaScript.
  7. Experience with configuration management and collaboration tools such as (or similar to) Git, JIRA, Collaborator, Beyond Compare, and VersionOne.
  8. Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of experience designing and developing software for a real time or non-real-time system.
  2. Experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain (Gitlab, Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory, etc).

Telework Availability: This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Work location: Annapolis Junction, MD; Fairfax, VA.

Summary Pay Range:

Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

$112,200 - $151,800
