Job Summary:

The Fixed Equipment Reliability/Mechanical Integrity engineer is part of the reliability organization supporting maintenance and operations in improving the condition of fixed equipment located at TPC Houston Operations site. We are seeking candidates who will strive to improve fixed equipment systems, maintain compliance with mechanical integrity initiatives, foster teamwork, and ensure a safe work environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide the technical support needed for Maintenance, Operation and Project Departments.
  • Provide technical support for fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems ensuring proper QA/QC including after-hours response.
  • Designing and tracking of code and non-code repairs
  • Perform corrosion studies of the production units and create mitigation plans for high corrosion areas.
  • Translate the corrosion studies to damage mechanisms and assist in creating inspection plans to address.
  • Document root cause of failures communicating to the organization.
  • Build asset maintenance strategies and plans.
  • Provides recommendations for improvement of fixed equipment assets.
  • Apply life cycle value analysis on repair/replace decisions.
  • Reliability gap closure through development and implementation of reliability-centered maintenance principles and programs.
  • Optimize preventative maintenance and inspection task and activities, identifying gaps and developing a corrective action plan, driving implementation, and evaluating improvement.
  • Work with inspection and fixed equipment engineer to develop multi-year reliability improvement plan.
  • Provide training to operations and craft personal.
  • Document savings benefits of implemented reliability improvement modifications and upgrades.
  • Provide input to reliability improvement teams, complete assigned actions and conduct FMEA studies to improve onstream availability.
  • Review/create program policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and metrics for proactive identification and resolution of reliability issues.
  • Participate in the management of change process.
  • Ability to interact with other departments to complete daily assignments.
  • Personal attitude and behavior that promotes a safe work environmen

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in engineering (required)
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fixed equipment in petrochemical industry.
  • Thorough working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME Section VIII, API 510 & 570, ANSI, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of basic industry standards, recommended practices and/or regulatory conditions/considerations for mechanical integrity of fixed equipment
  • Knowledge and understanding of reliability-centered maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of RAGAGEP engineering practices and principles.
  • Knowledge and understanding of inspection technologies and NDT processes.
  • Maximo basic knowledge or alternate computerized maintenance management system (SAP)
