Are you an experienced Systems Engineer with a passion for DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering? We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our dynamic Systems Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and supporting web and mobile e-commerce applications in a large-scale enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Management: Set up, maintain, and support web, caching, and queuing technologies in high-traffic environments.
- Tools & Technologies: Work with tools like Terraform, Chef, F5, Akamai, Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, Django, Memcache, Redis, ElasticSearch, and RabbitMQ on Linux platforms.
- Automation: Write automation scripts using Chef, Puppet, Terraform, or other similar tools.
- Development Skills: Have a basic understanding of programming languages like Ruby, Python, and Java.
- Troubleshooting: Deep-dive into troubleshooting applications and systems using technologies such as New Relic, Graphite, Logstash, or Splunk.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Development, QA, and Product/Business teams to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and provide excellent customer support.
- Project Leadership: Lead projects, participate in architectural design, and collaborate with various teams to implement, tune, and automate systems and applications.
- System Administration: Provide Level 2 & 3 maintenance and support for systems and applications.

Basic Qualification:
The Senior Systems Engineer role is expected to have expert level experience with maintaining web, caching, and queuing technologies in large high traffic environments. Expert engineering and operations experience is a hard requirement as well as a light development background in one or more languages – Ruby and Bash Shell. Must be well versed in writing automation using Chef, Puppet, or another SCM tool. In this role, you will actively engage with Development and QA teams as well as Product/Business teams. Must have strong and effective communication skills working with management and other senior engineers. Must be self-driven, leading project/planning efforts, architectural design, and attending meetings with various teams.

- Design experience in an enterprise environment.
- Experience in a system engineer/devops role.
- Experience with architecting highly scalable and highly available systems.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Demonstrates expertise in research, often going outside of their area of individual experience.
- Deep technical experience in consumer and employee facing enterprise systems.
- Exposure to infrastructure and platform capabilities - container, middleware, messaging, routing components.
- Passion for learning new things but tempering it with adding value to the company.
- Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to contribute to, and balance delivery against, multiple projects/demands simultaneously.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ yrs experience in enterprise level Cloud design
- Excellent communication and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics to both technical and non-technical staff; ability to articulate business issues/concerns with staff, peers, superiors, and outside parties.
Required Education:
- Bachelor degree or 9+ years of Equivalent Work Experience as a Systems Engineer at enterprise scale.

The hiring range for this position in Glendale is $112,600.00 to $145,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
