Your Impact

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer on the Crash and Citations team, you will help shape the foundational architectural decisions that will shape a new and highly demanded product. You're a cloud native engineer that knows how to leverage the latest cloud services to deliver high availability and high performance services. You know how to plan and work backwards from a feature-rich bullet-proof product to a nimble MVP, to ensure you prove your ideas quickly while also planning for scale.

Not only can you drive decisions among competing engineering trade-offs, your empathy with customers allows you to intuit innovative solutions for our customer problems. You will be working closely with product managers and designers to ensure we are building the right solution for our customers. You also enjoy mentoring other engineers, and love to be a hands-on teacher helping to up level the engineers around you.

What You'll Do

Location: Work from home as much as you want, live nearby any of our awesome US R&D Hubs (Seattle, Scottsdale, Atlanta, or Boston) so you can easily collaborate in-person when it's helpful and be an active part of our vibrant Axon culture.
Reports to: Senior Software Engineering Manager

  • Develop a new set of Axon Records modules for Crash and Citation functionality
  • Lead engineering architecture design reviews
  • Set a high technical bar for the team through code and architecture design reviews
  • Mentor engineers
  • Work across teams with Product, Design, and Engineering to create integrated solutions that delight our customers
  • Improve our Engineering process, including long-term thinking, sprint planning and stand-ups
  • Build services that adhere to our high bar on availability and latency in this mission-critical space
  • Work with the latest open source technologies

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in full stack positions
  • Experience designing and delivering highly-available, scalable cloud-based systems
  • Experience in JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Experience with one backend language (such as Java, Scala, Go, C#, C++, or similar)
  • Experience working with SQL and NoSQL data stores
  • Experience using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub, TeamCity, ArgoCD, etc.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 149,600 in the lowest geographic market and USD 224,400 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
