Job Description

Core Manufacturing (CM) is responsible for providing direction and oversight for manufacture and delivery of reactor cores to the fleet. CM employees assume substantial responsibility, balancing cost, schedule, and technical requirements to deliver the most benefit to the Government. Frequent and effective communication with suppliers, Naval Reactors, and Prime interface organizations is a necessary function of the role.
The CM Fuel and Poison Operations unit is responsible for over $150M/yr of contracted work with the external suppliers of nuclear feedstock, fuel and poison. We are looking for a Chemical Engineer interested in solving real-world manufacturing challenges to join our team. In this position you will develop expertise in manufacturing processes, technical requirements, product cost drivers, and how these are managed through contracts. You will monitor production using key process indicators, track product quality using statistical process control techniques, and provide technical/economic engineering evaluations as required. Depending on your background and interest, you may also help in one or more of the following areas: formal project management, cost estimation, contract negotiation/placement, onsite auditing/surveillance, and/or development of new computational tools to achieve unit goals.
Candidate must be willing to travel occasionally (Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; orMaster's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; orSRE qualified.
Preferred Skills

Clear and concise verbal/written communication.
Prior experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.

Pay Range

$75,300 - $115,300 annually
