Job Summary

The Senior Systems Engineer’s role is to assist in analyzing, planning, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing complex systems and networks. The networks consist of a combination that may include Servers, Azure Cloud, O365 Admin, LANS, WANs, Fabrics, storage arrays, and the physical and logical components that integrate these systems together as an enterprise networking backbone or platform. In addition, the Senior Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.

Job Responsibilities

1. Perform as a subject matter expert (SME) for Cloud, Cloud enterprise system administration for new IT or software concepts, Active Directory, Storage Area Network appliance, Directory Service replication, Authentication services, Role Based Access Control (RBAC), Group Policy troubleshooting and hardening of infrastructure; server virtualization technologies; server monitoring tools; as well as other related classes of on-prem and Cloud technology such as storage and clustering, data protection, and application platforms.
2. Provide design, engineering, and operational support to O365/Azure/cloud-based environments.
3. Design, deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and systems.
4. Provide solutions to meet mission and IT requirements, ensure technical viability of new solutions and successful deployments, while orchestrating key resources and key Infrastructure technologies, and leveraging application development and DevOps technologies as appropriate.
5. Manage project timelines, budgets, and documentation.
6. Assist with installation preventative IT and network maintenance tasks.
7. Preparing infrastructure analytics, data reports, and operational manuals.
8. Provides next-level support to internal infrastructure and service desk team members.
9. Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in technology, protocols, and best practices.
10. Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
11. Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
12. Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
13. Adhere to company IT security policies.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

1. A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or other related discipline is required.
2. Must have the following certifications: MSCE, CCNA, CompTIA Security+ and VMWare VCP.
3. 7-10 years working in an Enterprise setting maintaining and supporting physical, virtual, on-prem, and cloud-based systems, applications, and tools.
4. 4-8 years’ experience preferably supporting mission critical applications.
5. 3-5 Years Azure/O365 Cloud experience in a hybrid environment.
6. Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices.
7. Experience troubleshooting a broad range of applications, servers, operating systems, networks, etc.
8. Strong knowledge & experience with virtualization platform (e.g., VMWare, Hyper-V, etc.).
9. Extensive skills with Windows networking, Active Directory and Windows Security.
10. Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g., Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Ruby, NGINX).
11. Azure AD, storage, and compute including Application Proxy (NDES), Storage Account, Virtual Machines, Virtual Desktop, Backup, Automation, and Functions.
12. Azure identity management includes SSO (SAML), OAuth, MFA, RBAC, PIM, conditional access, monitoring / alerting, device registration, identity protection, and hybrid identity management / AD connect.
13. Azure networking includes ExpressRoute, VNet, Virtual WAN, VPN, NSG, Load Balancer, BGP, routing, and firewall concepts (Palo Alto, etc.).
14. MySQL, PhP, DevOps, PowerShell, VBScript skills.
15. Ability to demonstrate information technology knowledge skills & competencies.
16. Understanding of networking technologies and concepts.
17. Experience collaborating with technical teams of diverse IT related skill sets.
18. Excellent communication, organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.
19. Excellent interpersonal skills.
20. Ability to work with an international team environment and matrix organization.

Physical Requirements And Work Conditions

1. Physical ability to lift to 40 lbs. and maneuver in tight spaces in office places.
2. Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions like sitting, squatting, standing, walking, climbing, etc.
