SOFTWARE ENGINEER (OMS)

Sterling Trading Tech is seeking a SOFTWARE ENGINEER (OMS) to help in the development of our next generation order management system (OMS) infrastructure product line. The candidate is expected to be a highly motivated and hands-on individual who will join a software engineering team responsible for owning, enhancing and maintaining our proprietary distributed transactional infrastructure. They will work closely with various other engineering teams and influence the direction of our trading infrastructure development.
Responsibilities:
· Participate in design and maintenance of high-performance OMS systems. This includes, but is not limited to: backend server software, middleware and user interfaces
· Work closely with Development, Support and Infrastructure teams to troubleshoot issues and make continuous improvements
· Works on the analysis of new and existing code, works on its improvement and maintenance in coordination with colleagues and business requirements
· Create, update and improve continuous monitoring processes of the production trading environment
· Learn and adjust to ongoing changes within our proprietary trading system
· Support the release process
· Learn and support in-house and third-party software applications
· Bring new products and solutions to the firm
· Foresee scalability problems and address or escalate them as necessary
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
· 6-10 years of experience working at an OMS vendor or proprietary trading firm
· Candidates with skills in high-performance C++ server development, Python, Linux, Qt, PostgreSQL, MySQL and Kafka preferred.
· Understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols
· Experience with REST APIs
· Demonstrated interest in the newest technologies, digital assets and automation tools
· Experience in converting functional specification to technical specifications and delivering solutions
· Advanced knowledge of agile software development lifecycle, experience with JIRA preferred
· Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
· Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
· Solid understanding of capital markets, inclusive of the trading lifecycle, market data, and risk and margin
