Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will serve as a key member of the Engineering and Production support team, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. The Manufacturing Engineer will support the key fundamentals of manufacturing not limited to process development, productivity improvements, cost reduction initiatives, design for manufacturability, and quality enhancements. Clean Air Industries has a reputation for being responsive to our customers and offering best in class product and services. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with sales, service, and production teams’ to maintain this positive experience. This is a full-time role with onsite location in Rome, GA.
Responsibilities
- Review and update existing manufacturing designs, drawings and processes to better serve production for manufacturability.
- Be the main point of contact for production employees on design related questions, issues, and improvement ideas.
- Assist in prioritizing and coordination of product and factory cost reduction and improvement projects.
- Design tooling and fixtures to aid in the efficient assembly of equipment and products.
- Be a key stakeholder in the research and design of new product development projects.
- Develop and maintain Bills of Materials, work center routings and estimated labor hours to fabricate, weld, paint and assemble equipment from raw material state to finished product.
- Identify and coordinate continuous improvement activities through production and implement best in class processes to ensure they are sustained.
- Coach others on lean concepts throughout the organization.
- Review quality issues to identify root cause, and implement necessary changes needed to mitigate and prevent reoccurrence.
- Plan and update factory layouts and work centers for optimization.
- Research and lead implementation of any new production processes or equipment.
- Implement Engineering Change Orders and update drawings, manufacturing instructions, and specifications.
- Train Engineering and Production on new or updated manufacturing procedures.
- Assist Engineering with prototype builds and product testing.
- Liaison with production and the service team during equipment installation and maintenance calls.
- Other engineering and production support duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science degree from an accredited university in Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Enthusiastic and result driven individual with a strong sense of urgency.
- Prior manufacturing engineering experienced in an industrial setting.
- Ability to meet new product development and standard production project timelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with ability to communicate technically, both internally with various departments and externally with customers and business partners.
- Fluent in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication and welding.
- Experience with quality assurance and quality control is a plus.
- Ability to travel to as needed.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
