The S&B Family of Companies is actively searching for an Intern, Electrical Engineer to join our affiliate, TAI Engineers, LLC in Houston, TX. Under close supervision, the Intern performs routine assignments that are clearly defined and require the application of standard design techniques, procedures and criteria. Activities are directly initiated, supervised and reviewed by more senior level specialists and engineers. EDUCATION: 0+ Years.

Qualifications: Pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Industrial Engineering (students)

DESCRIPTION: Basic understanding of Electrical Principles, Circuits Theory, Calculations, Power, Batteries & UPS, Misc. modelling etc. Internship requires completion of at least Two (2) years of undergraduate studies from an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Industrial engineering. Must have working knowledge of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment. Previous internship experience is preferred, but not required. Must possess the eligibility to work and remain in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Typical Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Works closely with the Sr. Electrical Engineer to assist and support them.
  2. Assist in developing DC and AC electrical load analysis, One-line diagrams, Voltage drop and Cable Selection, Electrical Equipment Arrangement etc.
  3. Adhere to all company safety, environmental, quality assurance and security programs.

Essential Functions

  1. This is an office-based position, mostly working on the computer/ desk.
  2. This role requires interaction within a multi-discipline team in an effort to fully develop, deliver and complete a successful project. As part of this collaborative effort, the presence of the individual working within a group setting, with regular interaction during meetings and one-on-one, or face-to-face discussions with other individuals on the team daily basis.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before clients or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Occasionally may conduct or participate in a field trip to an operating plant or construction site. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Normal work environment will be a business office with moderate noise. Occasionally may visit or be temporarily assigned to work in an operating plant or at a construction site. This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, and work near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
