The Manager of Software Engineering will play a crucial role in leading cross-functional teams of developers and analysts in the delivery of critical cloud and in-restaurant applications and services. As a pivotal member of the technology leadership team, you will be responsible for the execution of Bloomin' Brands’ technology vision, strategy, and roadmap. You will also play a critical role in the development of team members by leveraging your technical expertise to provide valuable coaching, mentorship, and guidance.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, having had extensive development experience over many years, and possess an expert-level understanding of Agile Software Development methodologies. Responsibilities include:
- Participate in the creation and execution of technology strategy and roadmap
- Work closely with the Scrum Master, Product Owner, and other technology leaders and architects to deliver results on-time within budget
- Track and manage portfolio spend to ensure compliance with allocated budget
- Through KPIs and dashboards, accurately and consistently report on project plans, commitments, and status
- Review code, as necessary, to ensure conformity with industry standard best practices and in line with well-known and established design patterns
- Guide the team in the selection and application of appropriate design patterns for different scenarios
- Manage and oversee QA processes, including testing strategies, to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable software solutions
- Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to ensure that systems designed and implemented are resilient, scalable, reliable, and cost-effective
- Lead and inspire cross-functional teams of engineers and analysts, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to foster professional growth
- Cultivate a positive and collaborative team culture, emphasizing agility, innovation, a commitment to excellence, and a passion for mentoring and development
Desired Experience:
- At least 7 years of experience in a prior development/engineering role
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership position possessing demonstrable leadership qualities
- Recent experience in a collaborative Agile working environment (Scrum preferred)
- Thorough understanding of well-known design patterns and the importance of using them
- Knowledge of cloud technologies and platforms with a strong desire to stay current on changing technologies and trends
- Proven experience in designing and implementing cloud and on-prem solutions
- Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures
- Experience with service-oriented architecture (SOA) and microservices architecture
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teams
