About This Role
Manages a team of intermediate or experienced professionals in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Liaises with stakeholders, implements projects and represents the organization at external events, allocates project work, evaluates work, and creates career development programs for the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and direction for a staff of multi-discipline embedded software/firmware development engineers.
- Work with OEM Solutions engineering leadership, sales, and product marketing teams to develop and execute the product roadmap.
- Hire, develop and retain multi-discipline technical talent including direct, contract and outside resources.
- Ensure design and compliance to relevant standards and agency approvals (UL, CSA, cybersecurity, etc.).
- Champion development of best practices and standard work for continuous improvement in software/firmware design engineering.
- Oversee execution of robust design practices and tools including requirements management, architecture, design, analysis, and test. This includes product safety assessments, FMEA deliverables, and engineering change management.
- Up to 10% travel – both domestic and international travel required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- 5+ Years of experience in Product development with embedded software / firmware design and systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS degree w/2+ years of experience in technical leadership role.
- Ability to recruit, lead and mentor technical talent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and provide trade-offs in design.
- Ability to successfully collaborate across the organization.
- Authoring and overseeing design documentation such as software/firmware architecture and design specifications.
- HVAC / Refrigeration controls and electromechanical solutions.
- Operating system design methodologies and implementation (RTOS, Linux).
- Mobile application development (iOS, Android).
- Telemetry/GPS/CDMA/GPRS/UMTS knowledge.
- Experience with third party certification testing (e.g. UL) or new product development in a regulated industry.
- Project management experience.
