Job title: Sr Hybrid-Cloud Systems Engineer (Azure + Azure AD + Linux is the focus)
Location: Preference to be based in Chicago, given most the team is in Chicago. But NYC, Washington D.C. or Austin, TX also work
Hybrid work-from-home: 1-2 days onsite/week depending on the week
On-call rotation for escalated issues: Once every 7 weeks

Summary

This role sits on a Systems Engineering team of 7. This position is focused both on Server Engineering and Security Engineering, with the Security Engineering primarily related to Azure Active Directory.

The Server Engineering component will relate to Azure, Linux and sometimes Windows Server, VMWare/Hyper-V.

This role will be focused on engineering for escalated support tickets that come in related to either security issues with Azure AD, and server issues.

There will be an on call rotation every 7 weeks for escalated support issues.

What you'll be doing

• Plan:
  • Plans and executes new areas of opportunities, techniques, and approaches.
  • Demonstrates expert technical skills within technical specialty.
  • Creates technology strategies and contributes to road maps.
  • Develops complex project plans and manages projects across multiple IT teams.
  • Develops complex financial models and project budgets.
• Build:
  • Coordinates and manages complex Change Control Requests across multiple teams.
  • Develops and executes complex test plans for integrated, cross application solutions.
  • Effectively communicates to or instructs other personnel on operational and project documentation.
• Run:
  • Provides expert Level 3 technical support to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • Coordinates and leads operational activities across multiple teams.
  • Demonstrate strong financial, vendor and contract management skills.
  • Develops and executes complex production maturity plans.
  • Develops and executes complex capacity and performance plans.
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops team members.
  • Demonstrates expert client service skills, manages complex issues end-to-end across multiple teams and exceeds IT Service Desk, other team, and client expectations for resolving issues.

Skills we're seeking

• 7+ years of experience with Systems Engineering
• Must have strong Azure experience
• Must have strong Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) experience
• Must have strong Linux experience

Nice to have experience (from most to least important)

• Windows Server experience: we use 2016, 2019 and 2022
• VMWare and ESXi v 7.x experience
• Hyper-V experience: we use 2016 and 2019
• Powershell experience to automate processes
• Cisco UCS or UCS Manager experience
• Nutanix Technologies including Prism Central, LEAP, etc.
