About the role
We are looking for an experienced engineer with expertise in the design and development of Lidars to join our sensor modeling team. Covering model development to simulation validation, this person will own the Lidar models end to end. At Applied, we encourage all engineers to take ownership over technical and product decisions, closely interact with users to collect feedback, and contribute to a thoughtful, dynamic team culture.
At Applied Intuition, you will:
- Own the lidar modeling process related to theory, design, implementation, and validation of lidar models including material, radiometric, and internal processing.
- Work closely with our validation and rendering teams to demonstrate correlation, and create prebuilt sensor models to be used by our customers.
- Work closely with customers and sensor vendors to implement their specific models.
- Spend roughly 50% of your time on the validation of lidar models, and 50% of your time on model development.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- 4+ years of experience.
- Demonstrated design and implementation of high fidelity lidar simulations in previous work.
- Knowledge about state of the art as well as theoretical operation of Lidar sensors.
- Knowledge about environmental effects and modeling approaches.
- Experience implementing models in Matlab, Python, or C++.
- Experience across design, execution, and analysis of experiments for evaluation of sensor performance.
Nice to have:
- Experience working with rendering engines such as Unreal Engine.
- Hands-on experience with Lidar hardware.
