Senior Software Engineer

Design and build software services for our mobile applications and Platform as a Service (PaaS) across all parts of the system including back end message processing, business logic, front end intuitive user interfaces, analytics, device management and mobile devices.

The Full Stack Software Developer is responsible for the creation, development, implementation and management of the cloud infrastructure, mobile applications, and web portals.

1. Leads the design, implementation and deployment of highly scalable microservices into the cloud.
2. Adopt a culture of high-quality software development.
3. Handles difficult problems by offering pragmatic and practical solutions.
4. Develops and maintains technical documentation.
5. Ensure appropriate automated unit and integration test coverage of developed code.
6. Collaborates with other team members to establish best practices and maintainable processes.

Experience / Qualifications

1. A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
2. Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands.
3. Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation.
4. Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results.
5. Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity.
6. Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards.
7. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
8. Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers.

Additional Job Description

1. Requirements:
2. 5 years experience building great software using Javascript (Ideally AngularJS), Java and ideally Kotlin.
3. Web browser technologies, such as CSS3, HTML5 and AJAX and the principles of responsive design.
4. Experience with Amazon Web Services AWS (EC2, S3, Kinesis, DynamoDB, Lambda).
5. Implemented automated deployments using Elastic Beanstalk, Docker, Cloud Foundation, Ansible.
6. Implemented RESTful/JSON web services.
7. Understands agile methodologies, SCRUM, continuous integration (Jenkins), Tools such as Github, JIRA, Trello, Slack.
8. A hands-on, “roll up the sleeves”, action-oriented approach coupled with a creative spirit.
9. Must be impeccably honest and ethical, who is passionate, self managed and results focused.

Any of the following will be an advantage:

1. Ionic mobile app framework.
2. Knowledge of Leaflet libraries.
3. Knowledge of Javascript charting libraries.
4. Developed telematics, analytics or with mapping applications.
5. Mobile applications development (iOS, Android, and Mobile Web).
