Material Engineer
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
The ideal candidate will act as a technical liaison between the customer, sales, technical services, the mill quality and mill operations teams to support new business opportunities as well as existing business and production orders regarding product quality aspects to meet the business goals of client.
The Basics:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Materials or Metallurgical Engineering or related field
3+ years’ experience in research, operations, quality assurance, product development and /or manufacturing
Demonstrated experience in application of Lean Six Sigma to improve product performance and reliability through process redesign
Experience in Failure investigation and Root Cause Analysis in metallurgy or steel manufacturing environment
Knowledge of flat-rolled steel products
Knowledge of quality systems and processes
Proficiency in Statistic Analysis
Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
The Extras:
Master’s degree preferred
Experience using SAP and MES preferred

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Lead product development of AHSS and API pipe & tube steel grades
Lead product and process optimization and continuous improvement of steel grades
Guide customer qualifications, product approvals and product capability trials
Perform mechanical property failure investigation and root cause analysis
Analyze customer and industry material specifications for mill capability to meet dimensional, chemical, mechanical, and other characteristics
Act as a technical liaison between the customer, sales, technical services, and the mill quality & mill operations for new business opportunities, existing business & production orders regarding product quality aspects
Responsible for reviewing hot rolled business orders, building the fully configured materials/parts in SAP
Develop, maintain, and track the performance of quality business management systems for compliance, and conduct periodic internal audits of quality systems
YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office and Industrial setting
Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
