Machine Safety Engineer

Position Overview:
Seeking a Machine Safety Engineer with expertise in machine safety. You will conduct risk assessments, design safety systems, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Variety of Machine Types:
Injection Molding Machines, Extrusion Machines, CNC Machining Centers, Tube Bending Machines, Plastic Welding Machines, etc.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of engineering related experience, ideally dealing with machinery, maintenance, and/or control systems. Also, process design is a plus.
- Open to receiving CMSE training post hire.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a similar field.
- 30% travel throughout North and South America.
Ideal Experience:
- Optimize plant equipment operations and collaborate on manufacturing process improvements in a high-volume environment. Analyzing and evaluating complex machine systems for potential risks and failures.
- Provide technical support for PLC system integration and plant equipment maintenance, without requiring programming skills. Experience with safety evaluation software.
- Ensure safety compliance, with the ability to pass the CMSE certification test (OSHA certification is a plus).
- Lead projects with a decisive approach, balancing operational constraints and timelines
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk assessments of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems; develop and implement safety concepts, performance levels, and safety devices to ensure compliance.
- Create technical reports, safety documentation, and guidance on Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures and machine safety during maintenance.
- Support budget planning, capital expenditure proposals for safety enhancements, and collaborate with operations and engineering teams on safety improvement plans.
- Deliver technical safety training, stay updated on safety legislation and standards, assess software for risk and compliance, and coordinate with global teams ensuring safety consistency.
