Job Title: CNC Operator/Machinist

All shifts available: 6am - 6:30 pm or 6 pm - 6:30am, either Thu - Sat or Sun - Tues, both with alternating Weds

Specific experience desired: 5 years recent CNC mill operation

Reports to: Production Supervisor or Lead

Summary:

A CNC Machinist is expected to work in the CNC machining centers and is responsible for manufacturing and fabricating precision machined parts to meet customer and quality specifications on various types of CNC Machines.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for all duties and responsibilities associated with a CNC Machine Operator

Follow sequence of operations and set up requirements - without supervision

Setting machine and tool offsets. Confirming other Machinist's offsets on non-First Article parts

Provide technical assistance and coaching to CNC Machine Operators

Maintain adherence to Production Dispatch List and Production metrics

Properly Stage material, tools, fixtures to support production schedule for assigned machines and minimize change over time.

Provide feedback to Engineering and Quality to improve processes and reduce cycle times

Troubleshoot and reestablish work and tool offsets, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure quality of productions. Reports all machine malfunctions to Maintenance or Application

Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications:

Five-year Milling Machine experience preferred

Understanding in blueprint reading and GD&T strongly preferred

Good mechanical aptitude strongly preferred

Experience with troubleshooting strongly preferred

Understand AS9100 or other Quality Management Systems strongly preferred

Must have experience using measurement tools (e.g., caliper, micrometer, height gage, etc.)

Must be able to read G Code

Must have broad knowledge and ability to setup and utilize tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used on various machines.

Must be able to perform machine recovery

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Must be able to handle and manage multiple machines

Must have High School Diploma, GED, or able to demonstrate basic written, reading, verbal, and math skills

Skills:

A fully qualified CNC Machinist will have the following skills:

Basic computer skills (e.g., loading programs, clocking in and out, Factory Trak, accessing dispatch list)

Blueprint reading - dimensioning and tolerancing

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

Accurately complete required paperwork (e.g., Work Orders, Tie In Books)

Select the correct tool and media to blend / edge break a machined part

Finish machined parts to meet BAC5300

Forklift certification

Knowledge in use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to refractometer, calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and scales

In-process inspection

Identifying and controlling nonconforming product

Fixture and part loading in CNC machines

Cutting tool setup and insert rotation/replacement

CNC Milling Machine operation

Machine autonomous preventive maintenance

Crane/hoist certification

Ultra C-Lean

Machine recovery

Root Cause Analysis

Problem solving

ECR Process

Proofing Log completion including time studies

Machine recovery

AS9100

Mentoring

Work Environment and Job Functions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Proper safety precautions, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), must be followed as dictated by the job and working environment.

Must have ability to bend, twist and stretch arms above head and walk or stand for long periods of time.

Must be able to reach in all directions, handle and manipulate objects and materials

Must be able to coordinate the movement of eyes, hands and fingers to operate machines and equipment

Must have standard visual acuity (correctable by prescription glasses or contacts meets the requirement), including color recognition

Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 10 lbs. to a maximum of 40 lbs.

Must have the ability to become proficient and certified, as required, with equipment used to maneuver and store large and/or heavy objects.

Must be able to hear with or without correction
