Summary/Objective
We are looking for a flexible, results-driven team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work and consistently meet deadlines.
Essential Functions
  • Manage project engineering and related functions and activities;
  • Ensure project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and support overall construction schedule;
  • Provide technical support for construction effort including participation in construction planning and design, interpretation of design, application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design conflicts, constructability reviews, etc.;
  • Develop, implement, and administer project engineering procedures and other work controlling documents;
  • Represent company, project and/PR department during A/E, client, and PM meetings;
  • Interface all on-site departments as required to resolve problems, ensure quality of construction, etc., in support of overall project schedule;
  • Assist Superintendent and Project Manager as required;
  • Gather submittals from subcontractors/suppliers and create submittal log;
  • Review and forward processed submittals to subcontractors/suppliers and the field;
  • Track status of submittals with A/E;
  • Track status of procurement/material deliveries with suppliers/subs and superintendent;
  • Obtain additional information for submittals as needed/revise and resubmit as required;
  • Obtain quotes from subcontractors/suppliers for additional work as requested;
  • Compile quotes and prepare proposals to owners for price adjustments;
  • Track proposal requests through disposition;
  • Complete owner change orders/budget adjustments based on approved proposal requests;
  • Prepare subcontract change orders or revised purchase orders for approved changes;
  • Prepare job schedule on Sure Trak, update on a weekly basis and provide to all project team members;
  • Prepare Request for Information (RFI) as needed;
  • Forward RFIs to A/E for review and response;
  • Create log of RFIs and distribute RFIs to field and subs/suppliers;
  • Monitor and track status of RFIs;
  • Obtain ASIs and distribute to appropriate project team members;
  • Create log of ASIs, and ensure that ASIs are incorporated into drawings and/or project files as needed;
  • Ability to travel frequently and remain eligible to operate a company vehicle or a personal vehicle for company purposes per Fleet Safety Management policy; and
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • One to two years of actual construction experience required;
  • Bachelor level degree with an emphasis in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred;
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize and work under deadlines;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work varying hours as required, full-time or over-time, evenings, or weekends;
  • Ability to work rapidly and accurately with plans and computers, follow set procedures and standards as well as compare and recognize differences in size, shape and form of lines, figures, and objects; and
  • Ability to picture objects from drawings or diagrams, rate information using standards that can be measured or checked, perform quantity takeoffs, compile pricing, and work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a variety of environments that will include working outside in extreme weather conditions and noise levels. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time non-union position.
Travel
This position requires frequent travel. Project Engineers routinely travel to and from the office, job sites/projects, meetings, supplier/sub-contractor locations, etc.
Required Education and Experience
One to two years of actual construction experience is required. A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Administration in Construction Management or Civil Engineering is preferred. Continuing education in the fields of Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering is encouraged.

  1. Must pass a pre-employment screen, including but not limited to a drug and alcohol screen, background check, motor vehicle records check, reference check and physical (if applicable).
  2. Current and valid driver's license in the state of permanent residence (must be insurable by Jaynes automobile insurance carrier in order to drive a Jaynes vehicle).
  3. Must be eligible per Fleet Safety Management policy to operate a company vehicle or a personal vehicle for company purposes.
