Job Summary: The compliance engineer (manufacturing) plays a crucial role in ensuring that our manufacturing processes, products, and facilities comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. They collaborate closely with various departments to develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs that uphold the highest standards of quality, safety, and integrity in our manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities: (other duties as required)
  1. Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of all applicable laws, regulations, and standards governing manufacturing operations. Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements to relevant stakeholders.
  2. Process Evaluation: Evaluate manufacturing processes and procedures to identify compliance gaps and potential risks. Develop and implement strategies to address these gaps and ensure compliance.
  3. Policy Development: Work with cross-functional teams to develop, update, and implement compliance policies, procedures, and controls specific to manufacturing operations.
  4. Audits and Inspections: Coordinate and conduct regular audits and inspections of manufacturing facilities to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. Prepare audit reports and recommendations for corrective actions as necessary.
  5. Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs for manufacturing personnel to raise awareness of compliance requirements and best practices. Foster a culture of compliance and continuous improvement within the manufacturing team.
  6. Safety Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with occupational safety regulations. Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Provide safety training and education to manufacturing personnel to promote awareness and adherence to safety standards. Collaborate with the safety committee and other stakeholders to continuously improve safety practices and reduce risks.
  7. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of compliance activities, including audit findings, corrective actions, and regulatory submissions. Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required by relevant authorities.
  8. Quality Assurance Integration: Work closely with quality assurance and facilities management to integrate compliance requirements into quality management systems and processes. Collaborate on initiatives to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency while maintaining compliance.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, industrial management, or a related field. Advanced degree or certification in compliance is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and principles, as well as relevant regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Previous experience in compliance management within a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in compliance activities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with manufacturing compliance software and tools.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems - ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and external auditors in a manufacturing context.
