DevOps Engineer - Cloud Database Automation

About the Role:

As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in automating and optimizing our cloud database infrastructure using AWS services. Your expertise in AWS Cloud services, particularly RDS PostgreSQL and Aurora PostgreSQL, will be essential in developing efficient backup and recovery mechanisms. You will collaborate with teams to design and implement scalable, cost-effective, and highly available database solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Database Automation:
• Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Python) to automate the creation of snapshots for specific databases within RDS instances.
• Implement workflows for rehydrating database snapshots into different instances.
• Design and implement mechanisms for granular backups of databases within RDS/Aurora instances.
• GitOps and Automation:
• Work effectively within GitOps pipelines to manage infrastructure as code.
• Develop and maintain automation approaches to streamline database management tasks.
• Cloud Optimization:
• Propose and implement solutions leveraging AWS serverless technologies.
• Design database solutions that optimize availability, cost, and performance.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with DevOps practices and tools.
• Strong proficiency in AWS Cloud services, with a deep understanding of RDS PostgreSQL and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Experience writing scripts (e.g., Python) for automation tasks.
• Familiarity with GitOps methodologies and tools (e.g., GitLab).
• Knowledge of cloud security, networking, and monitoring best practices.
• Experience working with containers and Kubernetes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies.
• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
