Overview
The role of Viskase Osceola’s Electrical Controls Engineer involves various responsibilities centered around process control systems, overseeing automation projects including project planning, risk management, documentation and project closure. This role requires substantial engagement in PLC and SCADA/HMI oversight alongside process controls reporting and data management. The ideal candidate for this position should possess a diverse skill set, including a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and a proactive mindset toward continuous improvement.
Experience should include:
- Project Management
- Process Control Systems : A strong understanding and practical experience in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition/Human-Machine Interface (SCADA/HMI) systems are essential. They should be capable of developing and designing these systems efficiently.
- Documentation: Maintaining comprehensive and accurate documentation throughout the project lifecycle is vital. This includes technical specifications, system designs, testing protocols, and operational procedures.
- Reporting and Data Management : The candidate should have skills in process controls reporting and be adept at managing the data generated by these systems. This could involve analyzing trends, optimizing processes, and ensuring data integrity and security.
- Collaboration and Communication : This role may require interfacing with various stakeholders, including engineers, technicians, project managers, and other departments.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance : The ability to troubleshoot issues in control systems, conduct maintenance, and implement improvements is essential for ensuring the ongoing efficiency and reliability of the systems.
- Adherence to Regulations and Standards : Staying updated with industry standards, regulations, and best practices is vital to ensure compliance and optimal performance of control systems.

Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for tasks related to full-time design and documenting of production equipment, hardware installation and project management within Viskase Osceola.
- Develop process control applications primarily utilizing Siemens and Allen Bradley
- Troubleshooting and automation project management for new and old manufacturing equipment. SCADA (I Fix), Siemens Step 7, Siemens WinCC), Allen Bradley Control Logix
- Provide technical coaching and support to plant maintenance and operations team.
- Respond to emergency calls that occur outside normal working hours.
- Lead and implement control systems upgrade and improvement projects.
- Develop procedures, documentation, and narratives for controls projects
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience working as a Controls Engineer.
- Proficient in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Proficient in HMI/SCADA programming and configuration of related software packages.
- This role is “hands-on” and will require time on the production floor working in, and on the processes.
- Development experience at a minimum SCADA and HMI.
- Knowledge in controls networks
- Manufacturing line controls
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, time management and interpersonal skills.
