Network Engineer

We are looking for a Network Engineer, with an active security clearance, TS/SCI with Polygraph, to work at our client's site located in Washington, D.C. or Reston, VA. We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Network Engineer; must be skilled in designing large- and small-scale campus and wide area networking (WAN) solutions.

Technologies will include everything from legacy campus environments based on spanning tree to engineering future solutions based on SDN, NVF, and SD WAN. Must be familiar with Type 1 encryption solutions. JWICS or DISN experience is a strong plus. Strong knowledge of networking at the CCNP level working toward or possessing a CCIE. Strong knowledge of general routing and switching protocols necessary. Existing or working knowledge of MPLS and BGP with willingness to expand knowledge; must also have general knowledge of WAN acceleration, load balancing, data center technologies, and network automation and management tools.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Plans network design, layout and develops the baseline configuration for the system. Create detailed and accurate supporting documentation (engineering orders, Bill of Materials, etc.) to complete assigned tasks.
2. Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements and provides recommendations and guidance.
3. Briefs government customer and other contractors on recommended solutions and designs.
4. Supports the development of the BOM and government IGCE for acquisition by the government as needed.
5. Provide technical support and troubleshooting to users and operation staff.
6. Perform general network administration duties as needed.
7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
8. Perform cable infrastructure tasks.
9. 25% travel in support of site surveys, installation, and other duties as assigned.
10. Participates in special projects as required.

Basic Qualifications:

1. A current TS/SCI with Poly clearance is required.
2. Bachelor's degree in related field.
3. At least 7 years of experience with network operating systems (Cisco, Juniper; Novell and Windows Server); network hardware (routers; switches; cabling and other essential network hardware); and LAN/WAN protocols (OSPF; BGP; MPLS). Type 1 Encryption.

Other Position Requirements:

1. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNP) or equivalent hands-on experience.
2. Active CompTIA Security + Certification.
3. 25% travel requirement for surrounding areas DC, MD, and VA.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must be capable of engineering and documenting network solutions, not just deploying or configuring. Good verbal and written presentation skills.
