Summary:
Under the direction of the Continuous Improvement Manager, this position is responsible for supporting and assisting the Continuous Improvement Manager in the organization, planning, implementation, and follow-through of continuous improvement initiatives. Correspondingly, the incumbent coordinates and leads a wide range of activities that are designed to improve on-time delivery, productivity, quality, cost, safety, and environmental performance. This position does not directly supervise other personnel. Additionally, this position supports Operations Supervisors, Area Leads, and Plant Managers.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing tooling & fixtures for ease of change-over and mistake proofing
  • Designing and implementing material handling for optimization of flow and waste elimination
  • Designing and implementing manufacturing processes for ease and improved quality
  • Facilitating successful kaizen, problem solving, and rapid improvement process events with both internal and external consultants, customers and suppliers. This includes providing support to sustain all follow-throughs required to sustain the improvements initiated during those events, especially those concentrated on local improvement.
  • Coordinating, planning, and executing 5S and TPM checklists, as well as assisting in internal audit procedures.
  • Coordinating, assisting, and delivering team-based Continuous Improvement (CI) training to support heightened performance by being knowledgeable of each department and CI concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Assisting department leaders in team skill and knowledge development to support meeting management goals, project aims, improvements, result measurements, and problem solving.
  • Assisting and supporting all departments toward the realization of perfected CI techniques and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Assisting in collecting data to track improvements.
  • Coordinating with resource departments to fabricate, install, and implement improvements.
  • Ensuring that all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintaining full compliance with Company policies and procedures during activities, while adhering to the Company Guide to Business Conduct.
  • Remaining committed and up to date on CI manufacturing principles and techniques.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
  • B.S. degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Continuous Improvement, or Supply Chain Mgt from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer or similar role
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Daily Management, Kaizen, TPM/AM, and formal Problem Solving.
  • Experience in automation integration (digital/information automation, equipment automation)
  • Experience in reliability engineering
  • The ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written) and delegate while maintaining forward motion on key deliverables.
  • A high degree of interpersonal skills to motivate and influence others, including those not under their direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability of problem solving, systems thinking, project management, and team building.

Working Conditions:
  • This position involves moderate exposure to risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment. While not regularly exposed to hazardous materials, this position requires wearing full PPE to protect from mobile equipment and hot materials when on the shop floor.
  • This position requires minimal physical activity, such as walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time, as well as engaging in all motions necessary to perform 5S duties.
  • This position also requires the willingness to travel domestically for training and benchmarking purposes, as well as maintain a flexible work schedule.
