Senior Controls Engineer - Electrical Design
An automation integrator company is looking to hire a Senior Controls Engineer to join their team. This is a direct hire opportunity in Granite City, IL.
Responsibilities of the Senior Controls Engineer:
- Analyzes the mechanical design, review customer's requirements, and specifications to determine the optimal controls system solutions.
- Interfaces directly with Mechanical Engineers, Tooling Designer, and the project manager to support an on time on budget machine delivery.
- Support procurement and presents status and options as required to maintain budget and delivery schedule.
- Supports manufacturing to assess progress, provide technical assistance, final inspection and sign off.
- Provide on-site controls system start-up as required.
- Review project hardware/software for compliance with applicable codes/standards and assure personnel/machinery safety practices are fully implemented.
- May be responsible to lead and review all assigned engineering team's assigned tasks for a larger or complex project or perform design reviews for more junior engineers and technicians on their projects
Requirements of the Senior Controls Engineer:
- 7+ years' experience in electrical design and safety system architecture, specializing in schematics and panel layouts, alongside hands-on expertise in VFDs, servo drives, PLCs, and HMIs.
- 5+ years of specialized experience in fluid power design, crafting pneumatic and hydraulic schematics while programming drives, PLCs, and HMIs with finesse.
- 4+ years of comprehensive experience in control system applications throughout the project lifecycle, from initial design concepts to seamless installation and ongoing client support.
- Proficiency in designing systems using AutoCAD Electrical to create exceptional layouts.
- Deep expertise with Allen-Bradley PowerFlex drives, Kinetix drives, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, GuardLogix Controllers, sensors, and various PLC platforms.
- Familiarity with Siemens SIMATIC programming is a plus!
- In-depth knowledge of codes and standards essential for industrial control systems, including NEC, NFPA 79, UL 508A, and UL 698.
- Experience in product and/or program development to drive innovation forward.
