DAQ Engineer II

The Data Acquisition Engineer - Level 2 is responsible for designing a data warehouse and/or set up data sources from various internal and external data sources like sensors, machines, PLCs, controllers etc. Design and create data models to store and access data for reporting, analysis, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

Detailed Description

  • Develop Maintenance Data infrastructure for all the Niagara Assets
    • Execute large scale, data Engineering and Data Science projects that leverage data transformation and machine learning models.
    • Determine the function, capability, functional failure modes, probability of failure, impact severity and acceptable risk of the data Model to define the right DAQ Strategy to eliminate functional failures and their effects.
    • Works closely with all business units and engineering teams to execute strategy for Predictive and Prescriptive Models of Bottling assets and long-term data platform architecture.
    • Implement processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it.
    • Collaborate with IT infrastructure to streamline data pipeline and developing a secure infrastructure for data acquisition.
    • Establish a process to effectively manage the communication of Field devices with DAQ devices by implementing QoS techniques.
    • Communicates with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to provide updates on progress and ensure alignment with objectives.
    • Ensure appropriate follow-up recommendations and actions from the inspection program of the data models.
    • Collaborate with external/internal teams to develop/design a central data acquisition.
  • Develop Predictive analytic systems through Continuous Monitoring of critical asset parameters
    • Design, construct, install, test and maintain highly scalable data management systems.
    • Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry practices.
    • Research opportunities for data acquisition and new uses for existing data.
    • Develop data set processes for data modeling, mining and production.
    • Integrate new data management technologies and software engineering tools into existing structures.
    • Create custom software components (e.g. specialized UDFs) and analytics applications.
    • Employ a variety of languages and tools (e.g. scripting languages) to marry systems together.
    • Recommend ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality.
    • Collaborate with data architects, modelers and IT team members on project goals.
  • Work on Process Automation development tools and Condition Based Maintenance Projects
    • Partner with IT and Manufacturing Information Systems groups as a part of implementation of projects.
    • Selecting features, building and optimizing automation processes using machine learning and data acquisition techniques.
    • Data mining using state-of-the-art methods.
    • Extending company's data with third party sources of information when needed.
    • Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems.
    • Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis.
    • Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner.
  • Perform machine availability and OEE analysis to identify issues related to line performance and collaborate with plant and OEMs to troubleshoot these issues for improved line performance.
  • Data Acquisition Engineer is estimated to travel 20-40%.
  • Collaborate with OEMs for building data sharing pipelines.

Work Experience/KSA's

  • Required:
    • 2-4 years - Experience in Industrial/Automation/Data Engineering or other related fields.
    • 2-4 years - Experience in position in Industrial/Automation/Data Engineering field in manufacturing.

    • 3-5 years - Experience in Industrial/Automation/Data Science or other related fields.
    • 3-5 years - Experience in position in Industrial/Automation/Data Science field in manufacturing.

Preferred Competencies and Skills

  • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Java Script, Python, MySQL, Etc. And in communication protocols like ModBus, TCP/IP, APIs, MQTT, Ethernet IP, etc.
  • Basic understanding of PLC/SCADA systems such SIEMENS S7, ALLEN BRADLEY, BnR, Edge data Management, Ignition etc.
  • Proficiency in, but not limited to:
    • Microsoft Office Applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Visio, etc.
  • Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
  • Basic understanding of data acquisition and processing tools and techniques and developing algorithms on common platforms to generate outputs.
  • Basic scripting and programming skills.
  • Able to translate data into recommendable actions to senior management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proven record of taking initiative.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to execute tasks in a very dynamic and ever-changing environment.
  • Exercise sound judgment and ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.

Education

  • Minimum Required:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial/Automation/Electrical or other Engineering related fields or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred:
    • Master's Degree in Industrial/Automation/Electrical Engineering.

Typical Compensation Range

Pay Rate Type: Salary $95,301.00 - $138,186.00 / Yearly
