Senior DevOps Engineer (240067)

Job Summary
The Senior DevOps Engineer strives to ensure improved deployment frequency, shortened lead time between fixes, and quicker recovery time in the event of a failure. They work collaboratively with Software Development, Quality Assurance, IT, and Release teams to develop, deploy, and maintain application software and systems. The DevOps Engineer automates and streamlines the deployment pipeline to rapidly release reliable applications through configuration management. They will build and maintain tools to allow for deployment and testing into stable and scalable environments. This employee is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of large scale infrastructure across multiple solutions and will work under the guidance of the DevOps Manager. Work to optimize the development process and bridge the gap between software development, engineering, and management in order to speed up the software development process. Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline. Encourage building automated processes wherever possible. Reduce the time between committing a change to a system and the change being placed into normal production. Improve communication and collaboration to enable rapid product development by serving as the liaison between the development and operations teams. Increase customer responsiveness and monitor application performance by anticipating and correcting operational issues before their occurrence. Create more stable operating environments by continuously improving the infrastructure to be easily deployable and scalable. Maintain advanced knowledge of development processes and programming languages. Career-level professional within field. Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline. Conducts complex, important work under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Focus on release management with development and quality assurance teams and provide support for the deployment pipeline.
  • Ensure that all system configuration for servers are placed into configuration management and ensure that provisioning of systems are done in a reliable, repeatable, and consistent manner.
  • Build new project templates for team city and octopus deploy for use by development teams for "self-service" application deployments.
  • Reduce the amount of time fixing and troubleshooting configuration differences.
  • Allow for deployment of systems into new or varied environments.
  • Assist the release manager to ensure an automated deployment pipeline is successful all the way through to production. Ensure that system configurations in the deployment pipeline all the way through to production are configured reliably, consistently, and transparently.
  • Reduce the amount of time to provision new systems.
  • Create tools and processes that improve the ability to provision systems quickly.
  • Improve upon the provisioning and deployment pipeline using existing or new tools, technologies, or methodologies.
  • Ensure that all tools and processes are documented and checked into version control, treating infrastructure and deployments as code.
  • Make sure deployments are repeatable and reliable.
  • Assist with systems engineer and release manager duties, providing backup as needed.
  • Provide support after hours for hotfixes deployments, and maintenance as needed.
  • Assist the systems engineer and release manager during deployment and maintenance windows.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • The Senior DevOps Engineer role will be required to work some nights and weekends as the business needs will dictate the schedule and must be flexible.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 year/Bachelors degree or international equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a DevOps or SysOps Engineer, or similar role.
  • Prior experience demonstrating consistent delivery of work and adherence to company protocols.
  • A strong knowledge of agile methodology and continuous integration and delivery.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and skills to practical technical solutions.
  • Candidates with hands-on Azure strongly experience preferred.
  • Work Environment: Office

Pay & Benefits Data (in accordance with the Equal Pay and Opportunities Act)

  • Minimum Salary: $132,000
  • Maximum Salary: $191,000

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
