POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Director of Systems Engineering will lead the design, implementation, and management of our complex systems infrastructure, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable solutions that align with our business objectives. This role requires a seasoned leader with a strong technical background in systems engineering, experience with both on-premises and cloud-based environments, and a passion for driving innovation and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing high-performing teams, optimizing infrastructure performance, and implementing industry best practices in security and compliance. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop integrated solutions, manage vendor relationships, and ensure our systems are positioned to support the Company’s growth and technological advancement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the recruitment, development, and management of a high-performing systems engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance systems architecture that aligns with the organization’s business goals and technological needs.
  • Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to protect the organization’s infrastructure and data, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Manage and optimize on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure for reliability, availability, and performance, implementing monitoring tools and techniques to proactively address potential issues.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation, develop strategic roadmaps, and implement new solutions that enhance systems capabilities and support business growth.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of systems engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence, while managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Temporary or permanent duties and responsibilities may be added to or modified as deemed necessary.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience; a master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert) is preferred.
  • Ten plus (10+) years of experience in systems engineering or IT infrastructure management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing technical teams.
  • Experience in a high-volume, large-scale integrated resort is strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical expertise in systems engineering, including experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), virtualization, networking, storage solutions, and system monitoring tools.
  • Proven experience in security and compliance, with a deep understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., Nevada Gaming, PCI, etc.) and best practices in information security.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects using Agile, DevOps, or other methodologies, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Advanced troubleshooting, analytical, and problem resolution abilities.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of operational tools and concepts.
  • Passion for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with compliance for regulated industries.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction contributing to the success of the organization through engaging, developing, and mentoring individuals and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability in maintaining consistent, high quality service levels.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to organize effectively, delegate responsibility, solve problems quickly and communicate clearly.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position supervises all positions that fall within the IT Systems department.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Member must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
