We are seeking a versatile z/OS Senior Systems Programmer skilled in the IBM DB2 area. This position requires the ability to plan, install, configure, customize and maintain multiple DB2 subsystems and various other DB2 related software in a multi-LPAR, multi-site environment. DB2 knowledge should include the ability to upgrade several existing DB2 subsystems to a supported release. These tasks include verifying coexistence maintenance, establishing upgrade and fallback procedures, preparing/executing the installation and ensuring functionality with other subsystems and applications. The Sr. Systems DB2 Programmer must also be able to provide on-call services after normal working hours to respond to issues or to implement configuration changes.

Responsibilities

  • Installation and customization of IBM DB2 software and subsystems.
  • Implementation and maintenance of DB2 subsystems across several LPARs.
  • Installation and customization of DB2-related software to include QMF and DB2 Administration Tools.
  • Ability to monitor the DB2 subsystems using BMC to improve performance and to diagnose and resolve problems.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and provide follow-up support to various customer organizations.
  • Respond to issues generated from the Helpdesk, Operations, and Applications staff.
  • Participate in disaster recovery procedures.
  • Create and maintain system policies and user documentation.

Qualifications

  • Proficient with IBM z/OS installation tools to include SMP/E, z/OSMF, PDO, etc.
  • 7+ years of professional experience, required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or four years of additional experience.
  • Experience in the implementation, maintenance and management of DB2 software and subsystems.
  • Knowledge and experience in UNIX Systems Services under z/OS.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with SQL and SPUFI.
  • Familiarity with z/OS Security product CA.
  • Knowledge and experience with other IBM products such as CICS and Websphere.
