Job Requirements / Description
We are seeking a motivated, intelligent software development manager to lead an engineering team in the design and development of the next generation of cloud-enabled employment screening services and products. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful large-scale project delivery, demonstrating the ability to coordinate cross-team collaboration and guidance.
The position of Software Development Manager is 100% remote, supporting a distributed North American team.
What You'll Do
- Lead a team of engineers, ensuring members have appropriate technical direction, leadership, and balance between short-term impact and long-term architectural vision
- Establish policies & processes to optimize delivery, encourage innovation, & ensure applications are well monitored & maintained
- Independently architect and design large-scale systems
- Partner with the Product Owners and key stakeholders to plan, support, and release software development and application enhancements
- Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels
- Coordinate with support team to diagnose and resolve problems
- Invent novel solutions to challenging technical problems
- Drive proof of concepts using different platform components used by Sterling and third-party vendor systems
- Help define his or her own role in the delivery of the product/service design
What You Should Have
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in an engineering leadership role
- Previous experience (5+ years) as an individual contributor with hands-on experience as a full stack engineer in a .NET environment (C#, Visual Studio, Web API) with MSSQL (or equivalent RDMS)
- Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Strong track record of leadership and technological innovation and success
- Experience developing scalable consumer cloud-based applications
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Experience mentoring with a successful track record in developing team members
Key Skills
- Experience with AWS services, including but not limited to:
- API Gateway
- ECS
- DynamoDB
- SQS
- CloudWatch
- Route 53
- EventBridge
- Experience building applications using Infrastructure as Code (IAC) methodologies and technologies like CloudFormation (or Terraform)
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining continuous delivery pipelines through Jenkins (or similar)
- Solid understanding of least privilege security principles
