The Opportunity: Join BAE Systems’ Intelligence and Security Sector and be part of a diverse and enthusiastic team who supports the U.S Navy’s Strategic System Program (SSP). We are searching for a Software Development Manager to join the Software Solutions team that supports the customer’s enterprise applications. A hybrid position: In office collaboration days are Tuesday, Wednesday and an additional day of choice.

The Role: We are in search of a proactive and strategic-minded Software Development Manager to lead our software development initiatives. As a Software Manager, you will play a pivotal role in steering the direction of our software projects, ensuring they align with our business goals and meet the highest standards of quality. You will:

  1. Effectively lead teams of software developers through Software Development Life Cycles.
  2. Actively participate in and/or manage all phases of initiatives including requirements, design, construction, unit testing, QA testing, deployment and ongoing maintenance.
  3. Manage quality of software development to minimize risks and ensure that the deployed code is fully functional, efficient, scalable and robust.
  4. Understand and lead software design and development, object-oriented analysis and design, and application architecture with technologies and programming languages including, but not limited to, Java, .NET, Angular/React, JavaScript.
  5. Create and/or review technical assessments, rough order of magnitudes, and high-level requirements for assigned projects.
  6. Work with and may lead High Performance Teams to develop, track and deliver project plans and project deliverables. Appropriately delegate project tasks and provide guidance to build strong leadership and team skills within the project teams.
  7. Be on-call to lead teams to resolution for production outage incidents.
  8. Perform all duties inherent in a supervisory role. Ensure appropriate hiring, onboarding, training/cross-training, establish and evaluate team member performance, promotions, salary actions, and terminations.
  9. Be responsible for tasks/activities as assigned by senior management.
  10. Mentor members assigned to your team.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Software Development Manager or a similar leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring Software Applications and Systems.
  • Experience drafting technical instructions, technical designs, and other technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of software configuration management processes.
  • Knowledge of software, application, or system integration process and testing.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with partners and government officials.
  • Extensive experience in developing, deploying, and integrating software solutions.
  • Ability to successfully mentor & coach team members.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of successful experience in software development with at least 3 years’ experience in a management or lead role, OR 12 years’ experience with 8+ years of successful experience in software development with at least 3 years’ experience in a management or lead role.
  • An active DoD Secret Security clearance, ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • An IAT II certification as specified in the DoD 8570.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Common Access Card (CAC), badge access to the customer’s facility, and a SSP network account in good standing.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Self-starting, proactive approach to tasks.
  • Strong learning capacity for software tools and technologies.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
  • CompTIA Security+ ce Certification.
  • Experience applying DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $112420 - $191070. Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
