Job title: Mid-level DevOps Engineer

Location: Washington, DC / Hybrid

Duration: Longterm

Visa: Citizenship with the ability to obtain Secret clearance

Customer: USCIS

Responsibilities:

Design & Development:

  1. Maintain CI/CD software delivery pipelines & tools for an enterprise-scale system with a large developer base
  2. Maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) code artifacts
  3. Maintain container-based application solutions
  4. Write and run ad-hoc scripts (using Bash, Python, etc.) to automate DevOps processes
  5. Work with development teams to troubleshoot specific issues by recreating tests, validating configuration, etc.
  6. Provide deployment support by deploying applications and microservices in cloud environments.

Operations:

  1. Maintain, monitor, and help improve the performance and availability of the 24x7 production environment including networks, servers, databases, etc.
  2. Administer network monitoring system, alerting, log management, and other IT systems
  3. Participate in on-call rotation and provide hands-on support during emergencies, outages, and service transitions
  4. Manage operational maintenance such as OS patches, security vulnerabilities, etc. to ensure the healthy status of various prod and non-prod environments.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
  2. Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, especially with Jenkins using Groovy
  3. Hands-on experience with container-based technologies, especially Kubernetes, Docker, AWS EKS, OpenShift
  4. Hands-on experience with AWS managed services (VPC, EC2, EKS, RDS), including monitoring and analytics tools such as AWS CloudWatch, NewRelic
  5. Familiarity with configuration management using Chef, Puppet, or equivalent
  6. Proficient scripting skills (Bash, Perl, Python)
  7. Solid understanding of microservice concepts
  8. Experience with code management systems (Git, Subversion)
  9. Experience maintaining Java/Node web applications (Spring Boot, React)
  10. Keen communication and teamwork abilities.
