The Engineering & Sciences organization is looking for you to join our team as a Staff Chief Engineer supporting development efforts in the G/ATOR operating unit, based out of our Advanced Land Sensors (ALS) portfolio in the Maritime & Land Sensors and Systems (MLSS) Division. This position is an on-site position and will be located in Linthicum, Maryland.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Definitive technical authority for all aspects of engineering on all program elements.
  2. Manage the technical development and direction for all aspects of engineering on a program including design, development, implementation, testing, and delivery of product to a customer.
  3. Collect and provide required data for program reporting on engineering performance.
  4. Serve as the technical authority for the program.
  5. Serve as engineering team liaison for communications to/from Program Management, Manufacturing, Operations, customers, and other functional organizations.
  6. Compile technical content for major program reviews and milestones, and lead discussions.
  7. Ensure integration of the overall technical plan within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
  8. Ensure overall technical quality and performance for all engineering content for the program.
  9. Ensure the program adheres to sound engineering processes in development, production, test, and sustainment in accordance with company policies, processes, and quality standards.
  10. Make critical technical decisions.
  11. Drive process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within their associated programs.
  12. Collaborate with all Product Team Leads to resolve engineering conflicts.
  13. Support the program manager in risk and opportunity management by identifying and owning risks associated with system performance.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree with 14 years of experience, a Master's degree with 12 years of experience, or a PhD with 9 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related technical fields. 4 additional years may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  2. U.S. Citizenship is required.
  3. Active DoD Secret clearance required.
  4. Ability to obtain SAP/SAR clearance.
  5. Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and good oral and written presentation skills.
  6. Experience supporting and resolving complex technical problems.
  7. 3+ years of experience interfacing and working with customers.
  8. 5+ years of experience leading technical teams.
  9. Leadership experience should include at least five of the following: project planning, cost and schedule management and tracking, technology management, risk management, performance reporting, proposals, manufacturing support, vendor selection and management, hardware specification, and program staffing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge and experience with AN/TPS-80 G/ATOR.
  2. Knowledge and experience with ground radars and AESA radar development, design, and testing.
  3. Master's degree in STEM or technical leadership.
  4. Multi-disciplinary engineering experience and exposure (Software/Digital, Hardware, Electrical, Systems) and strong ability to communicate cross-functionally.
  5. Experience with technical risk and opportunity management.
  6. Experience supporting USMC and/or USAF customer.
  7. Experience as a technical lead, Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead, or other leadership role in a program office or business function with demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  8. Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) managing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) projects.
  9. Experience directly managing or leading engineering teams.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

This position is contingent upon transfer of DoD Secret Clearance.

Salary Range: $174,800 - $262,200

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
