We’ve got what you’re looking for.Job Description:Parsons is now open to applications for an experienced Senior Project Roadway Engineer in the Kansas City area to join our actively growing team on current and upcoming projects, including our most recent KDOT US69 win!This role will provide you with the unique opportunity to join a highly-skilled, collaborative, and flexible, team which will allow you to expand in your technical and professional expertise on major projects that will have a tangible impact on the infrastructure in your very own community!What You'll Be Doing:ProjectsReview and approve discipline staffing budget estimates and staffing assignment schedules on each projectIf assigned to a major program, manage all specific engineering and design efforts for program’s structural disciplineCoordinate structural discipline staffing requirements for the programMonitor the quality and progress of the discipline on each project, ensuring that production requirements are satisfied.Work closely with Project Managers and Task Leads to resolve any existing or potential issues (including staffing, quality, schedule , or productivity)Establish standards/procedures manuals and recommend improvements to proceduresEnsure performance within overhead budgets authorized for the discipline / Actively participate in and promotes the Quality Improvement Program / May head a committee within the discipline, striving to motivate and educate the assigned personnelPersonnelMaintain appropriate staffing level, including temporary personnel, as necessary (+ review and approve staff forecasting reports)Help recruit, interview, and evaluate prospective employees.Mentor, conduct performance evaluations, and counsel employees, take corrective actions (as necessary), and help approve salary adjustments and terminationsEnsure that new employees receive orientation on company policies and proceduresTechnicalReview work (drawings, calculations, reports, specifications, schedules, etc.) produced to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed, and that quality is acceptableMonitor productivity and technical proficiency of assigned technical personnel and make reassignments as project needs developProvide training and development opportunities for assigned personnel.Support pre-contract and business development efforts as required, serving as technical consultant. Ensures client criteria and scope are met by all engineering disciplines / Expedite distribution of action items following discussions/meetings with the client and Project Manager / Strive to understand the client's business goals and formulates action plans to enhance the project work and delivery methodsPrepare technical reports and documentation of activity for the client and project management / Act as Project Manager's deputy for certain activities, such as attending meetings in his/her absence, etc.Obtain, analyze, and circulate technical and contractual information to project disciplines/Review and coordinate change orders and supplementalsNotify project management and other affected personnel of all changes /Participates regularly in decision-making meetings with the client and project managementWhat Required Skills/Qualifications You'll Bring:4-year Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)Typically, 12 years or more of roadway design experienceProven ability to perform in a lead capacityDOT ExperienceWhat Preferred Skills/Qualifications You'll Bring:A Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) is highly preferredPE Registration is highly preferred and may even be required for this roleKDOT Project Design ExperienceMinimum Clearance Required to Start:Not Applicable/NoneThis position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.For more than 75 years, our experts have designed and delivered the critical infrastructure that connects and protects communities around the world.
