MetaPhase Consulting is currently supporting a US Federal Agency to modernize a critical application by leveraging open-source technologies following agile principles. The cloud-based application includes middleware microservices, frontend user interfaces, and backend databases/APIs.
MetaPhase Consulting is seeking a Cleared Python Developer with 4+ years of experience to join a cross-functional agile development team to deliver a custom cloud application in support of a critical federal program. The developer will contribute to development tasks and activities which will include creating user interfaces and API/web services. The solution is to be built in a cloud environment and will be integrated with multiple external systems. The developer will be responsible for collaborating within an agile team (requirements, designers, testers) and client stakeholders (product owner, end-users) to understand user stories and implement assigned user stories.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 4+ years of professional experience supporting custom software development efforts
- Experience with front-end frameworks such as Django
- Adept in core software development in Python
- Experience with collaborative software development and CI/CD tools (e.g., Circle CI, AWS (Amazon Web Services) or Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Git)
- Comfortable developing in a highly collaborative agile development environment (i.e., user stories, iterative development, continuous integration, continuous delivery, shared ownership, test-driven development, etc.)
- Solid communication skills and collaborative approach with clients, team members and partners.
- Active Secret Clearance Required – No Exceptions
Essential Responsibilities
- Apply test-driven development principles to develop, enhance, and sustain medium to large complex applications in a cloud environment
- Collaborate with customer product owners and cross-functional agile team to support working sessions and to evaluate, define, and prioritize requirements/features/user stories
- Contribute to technical research/analysis of user stories and participate in agile ceremonies including backlog grooming and sprint planning
- Complete assigned user stories by designing and developing new features/components or major enhancements to existing software while ensuring compliance with Cyber Security and Federal IT security standards (i.e., NIST) as well as Section 508 accessibility requirements
- Conduct unit testing and contribute to the set up of automated testing while collaborating with testers to address found issues/bugs, and support team with documentation required by the client
- Support demos and provide technical support to end-users for UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and/or production issues.

Currently remote with occasional travel within the Washington, DC metro area or company HQ in Reston, VA

Education Level
4+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree in computer science or IT related field; 6+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
Clearance Level
Active Secret Clearance Required; US Citizenship Required (NO EXCEPTIONS)
