Senior Software Development Engineers build code by using core agile practices such as "keep it simple," test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration, polyglot programming, and microservice design. A SDE focuses on developing and implementing modernized specialized business applications, deploying to development, test, staging, and production.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Designing, prototyping and demonstrating new features and components of front-end and back-end to users to ensure compliance with requirements.
  2. Assisting in the design, implementation and optimization of related approaches, tools and workflows.
  3. Collaborate with the technical teams, business teams, and product managers to ensure that the code that is developed meets their vision.
  4. Design the solutions to meet functional and technical requirements.
  5. Align to Security/Compliance frameworks and controls requirements.
  6. Own quality posture. Write automated tests, ideally before writing code.
  7. Write code.
  8. Develop delivery pipelines and automated deployment scripts.
  9. Configure services, such as databases and monitoring.
  10. Implement Service Reliability Engineering.
  11. Fix problems from the development phase through the production phase, which requires being on call for production support.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  1. 5+ years’ experience in Java, J2EE, Python development experience is required.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, with 8+ years of relevant technical experience.
  3. Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer, with a strong focus on Java Spring and related technologies.
  4. Hands-on experience with JPA and Hibernate for database integration.
  5. Proficiency in OpenShift PaaS deployments.
  6. Strong knowledge of AWS server technologies, including S3, Lambda, VPC, Route53, MSK, Kinesis, Aurora, RDS, and DynamoDB.
  7. Must have familiarity and hands-on working experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  8. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  9. Experience working with GitHub and/or GitLab, SonarQube, JUnit, Spring Boot.
  10. Strong technical and non-technical communication skills.
  11. Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills; individual should be able to resolve urgent problems in a calm and quick manner.
  12. Ability to be effective in a high stress environment.
  13. Be flexible and embrace challenges that are outside of your comfort zone.
  14. Hands on experience of creating test reports from automation test run using tools such as cucumber report, Extent report etc.
  15. Experience with OpenShift.
  16. Working knowledge of MQ.
  17. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  18. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  19. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  20. Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  21. Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  1. Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems with 2+ years of technical experience.
  2. AWS Certification is a plus.
  3. DevOps and/or automation experience in code testing, building, and deployment a plus.
  4. Experience building computer software within the airline industry is a plus.
  5. Skilled in writing, designing unit test cases using TDD and BDD methodologies.
  6. Hands on experience of virtualizing services for test automation using tools such as Wire Mock, Mockito etc.
  7. Hands on experience of working with continuous integration tools such Jenkins and Gitlab CI.
  8. Experience using relational and object databases and web service development standards and practices, including RESTful APIs, micro-services, and services.
  9. Experience working in an agile development environment using workload management tools like VersionOne/Agility.
  10. Expert troubleshooting and deployment experience with strong understanding of transforming business and functional requirements into efficient technical solutions.
  11. Experience with system integrations, optimizing performance and data integrity.
