Prescribers face many administrative roadblocks when prescribing expensive medications for their patients. Squad Health helps patients and providers access specialty medications by automating prior authorizations and navigating other barriers to treatment access. We are building an AI-powered tool to revolutionize how providers handle prior authorizations, speeding up access to treatment.
As one of our first engineering hires, you'll have a significant impact on our technical foundation and product direction.
Role Overview
As a Founding Engineer, you will help architect and build our AI-powered prior authorization platform from the ground up. You'll help make critical technical decisions that will shape the future of our product and company.

Key Responsibilities
-Architect and implement the initial product infrastructure and core systems. Some examples of initial features:
- Select LLM models to parse clinical data
- Integrate with existing EMR systems and payer platforms
- Refactor clinical data into structured data
-Make critical technical decisions about our stack and development practices
-Build and deploy our MVP while ensuring scalability for future growth
-Collaborate with other engineers and future engineering hires
Required Qualifications
-Full-stack software engineer with 5+ years of experience that includes:
- Python/Django and ReactJS
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Managing and configuring cloud-based IT infrastructure across platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.
- Prompt engineering with a focus on optimizing and refining AI-driven models and tools.
-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
-History of early-stage startup experience
-Authorization to work in the United States
-Located in NYC
Preferred Qualifications
-Background in natural language processing and document processing
-Healthcare-specific knowledge such as data standards i.e. HL7, FHIR, other EMR integration tools, and HIPAA security considerations
