AESI specializes in geotechnical engineering, hydrogeology, geology, and geophysics, providing these services in the Puget Sound region to municipal, public works, industrial, commercial, residential, and large-scale land development clients. Opportunity and Impact

We are seeking an experienced geotechnical engineer to join our TEAM. You will gain direct experience in a variety of projects, from the early planning phases to site characterization, and through design and construction. You will be engaged and challenged by diverse responsibilities encompassing traditional geologic and engineering analyses, natural hazards assessments, project management and construction oversight.

You will collaborate closely with our senior geologists and engineers, benefitting from decades of experience on diverse projects in the Puget Sound region. Collaboration with our team will help refine your understanding of the broader geologic and hydrogeologic framework of Western Washington.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform geologic site characterization studies through research, subsurface exploration, and geophysical methods.
  • Assess geologic and seismic hazards including liquefaction, seismic shaking, mass wasting, coal mine collapse, soil settlement and more.
  • Prepare technical reports.
  • Manage projects, including scoping, budgeting, preparing proposals and contract documents, and reviewing field reports.
  • Mentor and guide early career staff.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders including clients, contractors, regulatory officials.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Collaborate with geotechnical engineers to develop preliminary geotechnical recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology.
  • Professional license in Washington: Licensed Geologist (L.G.), Engineering Geologist (L.E.G.) or in the process of receiving one.
  • 5+ years of experience working in the geology or geotechnical field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Local geological experience, particularly in the Puget Sound lowlands.
  • Experience with geotechnical construction monitoring.
  • Familiarity with regional geology.
  • Familiarity with the regulations of area municipalities.
  • Experience in performing the essential duties outlined above.

Work Environment and Position Requirements:

  • Full time
  • Flexible hybrid work schedule with 3+ days in office days encouraged.
  • Ability to lift thirty pounds.
  • Alternate sitting or standing at will.
  • Driver’s license and current insurance
  • Personal vehicle to travel between offices and job sites (mileage reimbursable for project travel)
  • Reside in the Puget Sound region or already in the process of relocation.
  • Occasional fieldwork (in the Puget Sound’s variable weather conditions)

Compensation Package

Staff to Senior Staff Engineer: $65,000-$90,000+

Project to Senior Engineer: $90,000-$130,000+

Title and salary are based on applicant’s individual experience, education, licensure, and unique qualifications.
