Job Overview
An Explore Learning DevOps Security Engineer has a pivotal role in the construction and delivery of our award-winning educational products. Our products include a series of highly engaging games that create an exceptional learning experience. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining security measures across our DevOps processes and infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with development, operations, and corporate security teams to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our systems and data. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of DevOps principles, automation tools, and security best practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in the strategic development and rapid enterprise integration of cyber capabilities and tools to defend our networks, systems, and information.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices, such as GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and ISO 27001. Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and address vulnerabilities.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of security policies, procedures, and configurations. Generate regular reports on security metrics, incidents, and remediation efforts for management and stakeholders. Pursue continuous learning for information security.
- Actively participate in security incident response activities, including investigating security breaches, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Perform cyber and technical threat analyses.
- Establish and maintain monitoring and logging solutions to detect security incidents and anomalies in real-time. Implement alerts and response mechanisms to mitigate potential threats promptly.
- Design, implement, and maintain security measures within the DevOps pipeline, including infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes.
- Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline security processes, such as vulnerability scanning, compliance checks, and security incident response.
- Work closely with infrastructure teams to design, configure, and secure cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure components, including servers, networks, databases, and storage.
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Provide guidance on secure coding practices, code reviews, and security testing methodologies.
- Conduct security training sessions and workshops for development, operations, and other relevant teams to raise awareness of security risks and promote best practices.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in technical discipline or related experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role with a focus on security.
- Experience securing and monitoring IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, documentation, presentation, and communication skills with ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with security frameworks, standards, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with security testing tools and vulnerability management.
- Ability to leverage expertise in cyber data and information, analyze and identify data requirements, use specialized tools and services, and develop/utilize threat intelligence.
- In-depth knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and associated security services.
- Advanced certifications (CISSP, CISA, GIAC, CompTIA Security+, CCSP, AWS) are a significant plus.
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles, practices, and tools (e.g., AWS, Git, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) as well as Active Directory with enterprise authentication and authorization mechanisms.
