Role Description: The Lead CMM Programmer must have at least 5+ years of experience. In this position, you will be accountable for the programmed inspection methodology in a fast-paced Manufacturing plant.
You will assist a team working collaboratively to meet customer and production quality and delivery expectations. You will focus on World Class CMM Inspection and Metrology standards, monitoring performance indicators, and ensuring adherence to Safety and Human Resources guidelines while fostering a team environment with each individual engineering and inspection team member.
Key Duties:
- Responsible for programming, set-up, and hand-off of operation of the Coordinate Measurement Machine including all aspects of part installation and orientation.
- Participate in the development of CMM inspection methodology for customer prototypes to ensure successful manufacturing introductions.
- Determine program requirements based on design and engineering requirements.
- Review functioning of the CMM tools and programming for errors, defects, or malfunctioning.
- Responsible for cross training inspection personnel on proper operation of CMM equipment.
- Responsible to undertake routine maintenance, repairs, and programming of the machinery.
- Work closely and collaborate with other members of the QC and Inspection team.
- Keep the organization updated about latest technologies introduced in the market and changes in the industry standards and specifications.
- Responsible for training, supervising, and delegating CMM programming projects to CMM programmer(s).
- Take full ownership of management and prioritization for all CMM related projects.
This includes:
- Work in close partnership with the Quality Supervisor & Quality Administrator in utilization of Discuss software for FAI’s.
- Training Inspectors in the proper use of the CMM equipment.
- Taking ownership of all CMM equipment including specifying and sourcing new equipment, software, maintenance of all equipment.
- Establish and maintain department KPI’s.
- Results oriented with the drive necessary to continuously look for ways to improve the effectiveness of operations, processes, procedures, or services.
- Attention to Detail to ensure that work is done correctly, completely, and to the highest standards.

- Excellent understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Proficient in the use of PC-DMIS.
- Familiarity with Model Based Dimensioning (MBD).
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100.
Education/Background:
- Five years minimum prior experience as a CMM programmer in a fast-paced machining environment.
- High degree of knowledge of blueprint reading, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), metrology, complex inspection methods and CMM programming and operation (PC-DMIS).
- Two years minimum prior experience in a supervisory or managerial role preferred.
- BS in an Engineering discipline a plus but not required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or another related field or Equivalent.
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience.
Relocation: This position will not cover relocation expenses.
Travel: Travel expected to be <5% of the year.
Local Preferred: Yes.
Note: Must be able to work on a W2 basis (No C2C).
