Responsibilities
- Provide architectural direction for complex data ingestion, backend and presentation applications.
- Provide technical leadership to influence sound, data-driven technical decisions based on research and experimentation.
- Instill best practices for software development and documentation to help deliver high quality software.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional organizations including system architects, project managers, software engineers, test automation engineers, product managers, and operations.
- Communicate complex technical topics effectively with both non-technical and technical audiences.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of software development experience delivering progressively complex code.
- Minimum 7 years of development experience with Java or similar programming languages. Experience using the Spring/Spring Boot framework highly desired.
- Excellent proficiency with Linux and/or Unix operating systems.
- Excellent proficiency with build, deployment, containerization, and automation tools (Ansible/Terraform/Docker).
- Experience with cloud technologies such as Openstack.
- Experience building scalable, high performance, highly available, distributed systems, preferably using large-scale indexing technologies (such as ElasticSearch).
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting ability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent team player who enjoys a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to self-direct work on a wide variety of tasks with changing priorities.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required. Graduate Degree a plus.
