Job Description Summary:

The Senior Software Engineer (SMTS) develops high performance solutions for resource constrained targets. Develops next-generation resilient and fault tolerant software solutions in the application domains of undersea, terrestrial, air, hypersonics and space. The Engineer is involved in the full software development life cycle. We are seeking experienced engineers to implement complex signal processing algorithms in C++ and/or CUDA or OpenCL, a background in digital communication theory and GPU Software development.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluates requirements, proposes solutions, explores design trades to support a design.
  2. Designs algorithms using modern theory and proven techniques.
  3. Develops embedded software based on prototype algorithms with supervision.
  4. Analyzes designs to demonstrate performance and functionality.
  5. Develops and executes software tests to check compliance with requirements.
  6. Evaluates results to establish problem causes and develop solutions for inefficient or problematic areas.
  7. Prepares technical data, procedures, reports, drawings, manuals, and other required documentation.
  8. Communicates with customers and stakeholders to establish requirements and describe the design and deliverables.
  9. Drives solutions to complex problems with limited direction - contributes to requirements development and architecture solution ideation.
  10. Takes responsibility for a subset of engineering scope.
  11. Identifies program/system-level technical risks and develops and executes mitigation strategies for them.
  12. Actively mentors less experienced engineers.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities:

  1. Excellent development and troubleshooting skills on embedded targets.
  2. Excellent knowledge of OS coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems.
  3. Expertise in software development for real-time systems.
  4. Mastery of high-level development languages (e.g. C/C++, Rust).
  5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Knowledge of software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review processes.
  8. Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Experience with UML/SysML.
  11. Experience with in-circuit emulators, JTAG debuggers, and laboratory test equipment.

Education: Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

Experience: Requires 5-10 years experience in Software Engineering or related fields.

Additional Job Description:
