thyssenkrupp Materials, NA is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer for our upcoming New Mexico location. What will you be responsible for:
The successful candidate will be able to conceptualize, design and implement an operating plan that delivers the organizations strategic objectives through technical and organizational competence in a wholistic plan that considers all aspects of the business including sales, manufacturing, materials management, and quality functions.
Position Description
- Utilize Lean principles and philosophies throughout the organization by initiating and coordinating 5S and Kaizen workshops; improve manufacturing efficiency by utilizing cross functional teams to analyze and plan workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
- Work with team leaders and production supervisors to drive continual improvement activities with the goal of improving overall plant key performance indicators
- Support daily production cells by troubleshooting, collecting, and monitoring data to ensure equipment uptime and appropriate throughputs are being achieved
- Install new equipment to improve a company’s manufacturing processes and in support of new product introductions
- Develop operational procedures on all equipment and manufacturing processes
- Gather data and compile reports to assess the effectiveness of manufacturing procedures
- Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching testing methods, and conferring with equipment vendors
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment and where required, coordinate, supervise and liaise with outside contractors and maintenance personnel to ensure productivity, quality, safety and continuous improvement objectives are met.
- Apply Six Sigma methodologies to improve core processes based on customer requirements, current performance and intended results
- Develop and maintain Predictive/Preventive Maintenance procedures
- Test and monitor machinery to ensure ongoing process capability
- Troubleshoot machines to resolve breakdowns or faults
- Be the point of contact in the production cells to resolve equipment issues
- Conduct process capability analysis to ensure quality standards are maintained
- Assist in the development of control plans for all processes and products where required
- Ensure successful completion of pre-start health and safety reviews for new and altered equipment
- Participate with sales and operations teams in Contract Reviews for all significant new projects
- Project manage all technical upgrades, equipment installation, tooling design and implementation
Manufacturing Engineer Requirements
- High level of technical expertise in the areas of sheet metal fabrication, CNC Controls and Stamping
- Degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering preferred
- Experience with repetitive and build to suit manufacturing methodologies
- Experience managing large and complex projects using CPM/PERT/GHANT Charts/AGILE Sprints
- Adept in Capital Planning, Feasibility Analysis, Cost-Benefit Analysis, Activity Based Costing
- 5+ years of experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment, with familiarity with Group Technology/Cellular Manufacturing, SMED, Kanban, Process Mapping and Methods Analysis
- Experience using CAD/CAM, Dynamic/Static Nesting
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organization and management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a high competency in Microsoft Exce
