As a Traffic Engineer/Transportation Planning Engineer in the Traffic Engineering Division of the Development and Engineering Services Department, this position will work in every aspect of traffic engineering with a small, but dedicated team. The primary duties of this position include internal and external customer service, development review, signing and striping, review and design, traffic observations and studies, neighborhood Traffic Management Program, project management, school traffic circulation and maps and use of CCTV cameras and basic Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • A Registered Professional Engineer (PE), Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or is a highly skilled transportation technician or planner.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and other federal traffic engineering guidelines, state statutes, and regional best practices in traffic engineering.
  • The ability to develop and implement solutions, as well as monitor after project implementation.
  • The ability to solve problems in a detailed-oriented manner.
  • The ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.
  • The ability to identify safety and operational concerns and enjoy the process.
