Senior HPC Network Engineer – Network Engineering Team
Our client, an industry leading quantitative trading firm and market maker, is looking for a Senior HPC Network Engineer to join their growing network engineering team in Chicago. The firm prides itself on its collaborative and technologically focused approach, always trying to improve and implement new technologies while working together and sharing ideas with some of the industries most experienced and brightest individuals.
As a Senior HPC Network Engineer you will be responsible upgrading and maintaining a large-scale HPC environment, always keeping your self updated on the latest technologies and research that you could implement. You will also be taking charge of and helping the firm implement cloud-scale networking.
Responsibilities
- Take charge of the network design, product selection, routing, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate and effectively communicate with your team as well as other teams to advance the firms research culture.
- Help mentor more junior staff within your team.
- Improve the efficiency of networks and implement new strategies to continue pushing the limits.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or a related field.
- Years of relevant experience.
- Collaborative and communicative professional who works well with colleagues.
- Advanced understanding of layer 2 and layer 3 network protocols(OSPF, BGP, PIM, IGMP, spine-leaf architecture, and VXLAN) as well as how to best utilise them.
- Experience managing Arista (EOS), Cisco (NX-OS), and SONiC-based switches.
- Experience in designing computing and grid networks, capacity planning, and full lifecycle project management.
- Experience with packet decoding and analysis tools such as Wireshark and tcdump.
- Experience working with cloud networks such as AWS, GCP, Azure.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Salt.
- Experience with Python, Unix/Linux command line utilities and network stack, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, GitHub.
