Job Summary:
The Aircraft-Propulsion Performance Principal Engineer/Lead will be responsible for evaluating and predicting the aircraft and electrical / propulsion system performance for the EOS aircraft, reporting directly to the Head of Flight Sciences. Providing these reliable predictions for the electrical propulsion system will require close collaboration with the Proposition Integration engineering team and innovative approaches and modeling processes for this new-novel technology. The successful candidate will provide technical and organizational leadership to the flight sciences performance team, working closely with Stability & Control to develop the aircraft characteristics through the conceptual design phase and the aircraft maturity and verification correlation that progresses through the program phases.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Oversight: Lead the flight sciences aircraft and propulsion performance team in developing and analyzing cutting-edge aerodynamic designs and performance metrics for our aircraft. Performance prediction methods and correlation will be through traditional means for aircraft and propulsion system. Electrical Storage System and electrical propulsion performance prediction will require innovative approaches and modeling processes for this emerging technology.
  • Team Management: Build and lead a high-performing team of engineers and scientists, fostering an environment of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Stakeholder Interaction: Serve as one of the company's main representatives in discussions with program teams, technical review panels, customers, and suppliers, ensuring our engineering solutions align with broader goals and requirements.
  • Standards and Processes: Uphold the highest engineering standards and processes, contributing to design reviews, certification efforts, and meeting project timelines and budgets.
  • Collaboration: Engage with cross-functional teams across the organization to integrate flight sciences principles into the overall aircraft design and manufacturing process.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years in the aerospace industry within an aircraft or OEM environment, with substantial leadership experience in engineering, particularly through the design, development, and certification lifecycle of EASA/FAA Part 25 aircraft.
  • Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of flight sciences disciplines, deep knowledge in aircraft and propulsion performance, with significant experience in the conceptual and preliminary design of regional aircraft. Experience with FAA/EASA Part 21 is desired.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire engineering teams, with a track record of hiring and organizing a successful team.
  • Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Education: Advanced degree in aerospace, aeronautical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Prior experience in an aerospace start-up or with (electric) aircraft development is highly valued.
