Introduction to the job
The Staff Test Software Engineer develops software applications utilized to test Cymer deep ultraviolet (DUV) light sources and modules. Creates new software architectures and designs and participates in the full development cycle of software test tools: requirements, design, development, test and release. Provides guidance and mentors junior members in the team.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
Role and responsibilities
- Develops test software LabVIEW applications for Manufacturing, Engineering and Supplier testing.
- Develops test software applications needed for proof of concept, feasibility validation and prototype evaluation.
- Researches new software technologies and proposes enhancements to the test tool software portfolio and to the test tools architecture based on those new technologies. This includes LabVIEW applications, Matlab scripts and Test Stand sequences.
- Provides test software technical leadership and participates in technical discussions with cross functional teams.
- Investigates test software quality issues and proposes long-term solutions for software test tools.
- Evaluates the electrical, software, optical and electromagnetic components of the laser system and its modules in order to create test tools that cover all the necessary test cases.
- Creates technical presentations (software design architecture, test tool updates, etc.) and present those in cross functional review meetings.
- Creates engineering designs documents including block diagrams, software sequence diagrams, flow diagrams and other engineering design artifacts. Reviews documentation created by other team members.
- Selects off-the-shelf software components required for new and sustaining test tools.
- Works in cross-functional groups to create test software requirements documentation.
- Oversees technical development of software done by peer engineers. Mentors and trains junior engineers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optics, Physical Sciences or related discipline. Master's degree is a plus.
- NI Certified LabVIEW Architect preferred.
- A minimum of ten (10) years industry experience developing test software.
- Solid programming experience developing LabVIEW applications.
- Programming experience developing LabVIEW RT and LabVIEW FPGA applications.
- Experience defining software architectures for test applications.
- Programming experience with NI Test Stand, Matlab and Python desired but not required.
- Experience developing applications that interface with NI hardware: PXI DAQ Systems, Analog DAQ, Digital I/O, NI Vision, sbRIO.
- Experience developing applications which handle communication interfaces: RS232, RS422, CAN Bus / Device Net, Ethernet (TCP/IP, UDP, FTP), GPIB, SPI.
Skills
- Ability to use standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, signal generators and power meters.
- Basic knowledge in utilizing design engineering tools including the capability of statistically analyzing data and reporting it in graphical formats (trend charts, CpK, Control Charts, Gauge R&R Studies).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to write technical and status reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
- Demonstrated high level of accountability, responsibility, and technical competence.
- Must be task focused and have a results-oriented attitude and approach to the job responsibilities.
- Ability to perform effectively in a process driven demanding environment with changing workloads.
