Role Overview
The CNC Machinist is a full-time position focused on setting up and operating CNC machinery, including horizontal boring mills and machining centers, to machine precision parts. The role requires at least 5 years of machining experience, proficiency in reading technical drawings, and the ability to work with various materials in a manufacturing environment. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, with technical training preferred. The role emphasizes quality control, machine maintenance, and supporting final testing to ensure all products meet exact specifications. Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC horizontal boring mills and machining centers.
  • Read and interpret manufacturing drawings to accurately machine parts.
  • Work with various materials, utilizing a range of hand tools and equipment.
  • Maintain and adhere to machinery maintenance schedules, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Support final testing and quality checks to ensure that machined parts meet design specifications.
  • Assist with other duties as required to support the team and production goals.
Day-to-Day
Set up and operate CNC machinery to precision machine various parts according to engineering designs and blueprints. Ensure machines are properly maintained and perform final quality checks on machined parts. The role involves collaboration with other machinists and engineers to meet production targets and maintain a safe, organized work environment.
Challenges
Maintaining precision and quality when machining complex parts, adhering to production timelines, and troubleshooting any issues with CNC equipment.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience, with proven expertise in CNC horizontal boring mills or machining centers.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in the defense industry, is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; post-secondary technical training preferred.
