Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) seeks to find a Systems Engineer in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting the Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support a Ground program. This position may be at our Morrisville, NC, Aurora CO, Fairfax VA, or Linthicum MD sites. (Compensation varies per location)

The Systems Engineering team supports the program by identifying and analyzing requirements, designing and developing a system to satisfy those requirements, and managing the system throughout the program.

Job responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Develop engineering requirements for the Ground Segment
  2. System integration, verification, and validation
  3. Model-Based Systems Engineering work in Cameo
  4. Develop system interfaces and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for the program
  5. Implement engineering changes to the system as required
  6. Take initiative in a fast-paced work environment
  7. Collaborate with teams located at different sites

This position requires being onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance at time of application
  2. Must have a completed STEM degree (a degree in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics)
  3. Level 3 (Principal):
    1. 5 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's (STEM)
    2. 3 Years of relevant experience with a completed Master's (STEM)
    3. 1 Year of relevant experience with a completed Ph.D. (STEM)
  4. Level 4 (Sr Principal):
    1. 8 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's (STEM)
    2. 6 Years of relevant experience with a completed Master's (STEM)
    3. 4 Years of relevant experience with a completed Ph.D. (STEM)
  5. Must have above minimum experience on the below:
    1. Background in requirements derivation, decomposition, and traceability throughout a system
    2. Experience presenting engineering changes to review boards
    3. Experience gathering and managing stakeholder expectations
    4. Experience in creating and managing various design documents
    5. Ability to produce milestones deliverables and presentations
    6. Ability to work independently or as part of a team
    7. Basic familiarity with Atlassian tools (JIRA and Confluence)
    8. Basic familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in an Agile team

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience using Rational DOORS for requirements management
  2. Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering in Cameo
  3. Experience with Agile Framework and the various ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Reviews, Scrums, Retrospectives, Refinement)
  4. Verification and Validation of requirements
  5. Testing tools and automation experience

Salary Range: $97,500 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: $121,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
