Project/Unit DescriptionThe Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL) of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking engineers and scientists who have a strong background in digital signal processing to be applied to the analysis and evaluation of electronic attack (EA) and electronic protection (EP) techniques.
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled RF/Radar Systems Engineer with a robust background in digital signal processing (DSP). The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in applying DSP techniques to the evaluation of EA/EP algorithm performance and analyzing candidate EA/EP techniques. The candidate will also have experience in evaluating the feasibility of EA/EP requirements for radar. Experience in working with EA/EP techniques and signal processing in radars, or a similar related field, is highly desirable.
As a researcher in the Air and Missile Defense Division (AMDD), candidates will work on a variety of projects supporting both US Army and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) radars. At GTRI, candidates have an excellent opportunity to grow technically and to support program management and business development activities as their careers evolve.
RF/Radar Systems Engineers work with a team to perform advanced system and algorithm development using established systems engineering approaches. Based on detailed trade studies and requirements analyses, radar systems engineers develop solutions to satisfy system requirements and perform functions related to all aspects of radar system design. These functions include the development of the complete architectural design of radar systems, investigation and development of new algorithms to advance key sensor capabilities by leveraging signal processing techniques and novel waveform development, development of detailed simulations of algorithms and systems for design verification or to facilitate operational software development, the design of sensor modes that maximize sensor performance, the collection and analysis of data from laboratory or flight tests, and formal verification that the final design solution meet all system requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Develop requirements and direct others to perform design and theory research and lab testing tasks as task lead
- Mentor others in developing methods and expertise in broad areas of design, theory, and testing as task lead
- Document work of design, theory, and test in written and presentation form as team lead.
- Coordinate documentation inputs from team
- Primary lead on the development of whitepapers and proposals in research areas of expertise
- Primary lead on sponsors and potential sponsors engagement
- Primary author of entire technical reports/presentations of projects, journal articles, and conference presentations
- Analyzing and predicting EA/EP technique performance
- Developing EP techniques
- Briefing sponsors on a regular basis
- Documenting research in briefings, papers, and reports
- Experience in EA/EP performance analysis applied to radar or similar RF systems
- Experience briefing customers or similar audience on research and work performed
- Active Secret Clearance
- Recognized subject matter expert in EA/EP applied to radar systems
- A deep and broad understanding of radar systems
Travel Requirements
10% - 25% travel

- 9 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
- 7 years of related experience with a Masters' degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
- 4 years of related experience with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.

Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
