HDR is actively seeking a Resident Engineer (RE) to join our growing New York City Water group. The selected candidate will be responsible to provide all services necessary and required for inspection, supervision, management, coordination and administration of the NYCDEP water and wastewater infrastructure projects in various locations across NYC 5 boroughs.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the work of the construction contractor to ensure that work is properly executed, completed in a timely fashion and conforms to the requirements of the construction documents and to good construction practice from NTP through the Close-Out phase.
- Supervision of all construction within the project limits to ensure that the work conforms to the requirements of the contract plans and specifications.
- Provide construction management, supervision, and leadership for an inspection staff on infrastructure construction projects.
- Independently coordinating and directing all phases of construction inspection on water and wastewater infrastructure projects
- Review and coordinate the daily work schedules and make changes as necessary.
- Prepare and process all necessary payment documents and certify the quantities and prepare payment packages.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are enforced and document any performance related activities such as outstanding achievements or disciplinary actions.
- Monitors the implementation of the contractor's safety program.
- Ability to Issue Change orders, Field orders and Field memo in order to increase, decrease, or eliminate items due to field conditions or as a result of as-built calculations.
- Frequently working with Project managers and city officials to notify all potential changes, estimated quantities adjustments, and construction schedule changes
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years of relevant construction management experience involved in infrastructure projects.
- Familiar with NYCDEP procedures and processes.
- Prior experience as Resident Engineer managing heavy infrastructure projects.
- Proven excellent leadership skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field
- 10 years related experience in various aspects of construction including estimating, bidding, preparing purchase orders and subcontracts, scheduling, and field engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Bluebeam, estimating & scheduling software, and web-based document collaboration software
- Experience developing and managing construction engineering and inspection programs
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
